Smart Talks at Mart, Rathmines this Saturday 10th November
This coming Saturday a day of day of talks supported by Mary Gallery and the Arts Council, about if and how writers, artists and new media should react in turbulent times. From Oxford University lecturers on internet policy to political podcasters and visual artists, the day will have panelists from Ireland, the UK and the US.
Maria Farrell, lecturer in Oxford University doctoral programme on cyber security, will be talking about her experience as an internet policy expert.
Acclaimed theatre director Grace Dyas will talk arts, activism and standing up in turbulent times.
Ireland’s fastest growing podcast EchoChambers will talk about how alternative and new media can challenge the status quo.
Artists Amanda Jane Graham & Arthur Seefahrt will be looking at whether artists need to react to the political world around them. Does every country need a Banksy?
From music to politics, arts and theatre, there’ll be a range of panels throughout the day asking – where do we go from here, in a post Brexit, Trump era. We’ll also take a sideways swipe at Irish politicians losing the run of themselves online.
Tickets cost from €10 (students/unwaged) to €15 for the full day’s events.
